Last night was official the cancellation of the 10th CMAS International Finswimming Meeting of “Llengua Catalana” 2011 organized by the catalan club Associació Esportiva Natació x Tothom, based in Lleida, Spain. Due to economic adjustments of the club and large cuts on grants by the official institutions, the organizers of the event have been obliged to cancel the competition this year. Associació Esportiva Natació x Tothom will try to rectify these economical problems for the next season 2012.

La USS Dario Gonzatti, con l’approvazione del comitato regionale F.I.P.S.A.S. della Liguria, organizza per domenica 20 novembre 2011, la gara di Nuoto Pinnato denominata “3° TROFEO “Dei Presidenti”; la manifestazione è dedicata ai dirigenti dell’USS Gonzatti, Mario Baccelli, Virginio Lilli e Gianfranco Senno. La gara è valida anche come 1a prova esordienti a carattere zonale Liguria-Lombardia-Piemonte e come prova unica di campionato regionale ligure invernale.

As we can read in this page, Finswimming seems to be about 45 years old, taking as start the year in which the first European Championship was organized, that was the far 1967. Well in all of this time it has never broken through…and maybe it never will. What do you think about? Do you believe that one day Finswimming will be a Worldwide-Known sport, not like Soccer, but almost like Rugby or the Boxe, just to be sure if you ask someone the question: “Hey dude do you know what Finswimming is?” you finally will get an affermative answer? Or it will be a “niche sport” forever?
