From October 3rd to 4th, 2025, the city of Busan, South Korea, hosted the finswimming competition as part of the 106th National Sports Festival. The event gathered the nation’s top finswimmers representing various regional sports councils, high schools, and universities, competing across multiple surface and immersion distances.
Athletes from Gyeonggi Sports High School, Gyeongbuk Provincial Office, Daegu Sports High School, and Busan Metropolitan City Sports Council were among the most successful participants, achieving several podium finishes and breaking personal bests.
The competition featured both junior (high school) and senior (general) divisions, with races in surface (SF) and bi-fins (BF) categories at distances from 50 m to 800 m.
Several athletes stood out for their impressive performances:

Kim Ga-in (Gyeongbuk Provincial Office) confirmed her dominance in the women’s surface sprint events, maintaining times close to the Korean record.

Lee Gwan-ho (Incheon Sports High School) and Kwon Nam-ho (Gyeongbuk Sports Council) led the men’s races, delivering top performances in both 100 m and 400 m events.

Young talents from Chungnam Sports High School and Gwangju Sports High School showed promising results in the junior categories, highlighting the next generation of Korean finswimmers.
The atmosphere in Busan was electric, with enthusiastic support from teams and spectators. The National Sports Festival remains a crucial event in South Korea’s sporting calendar, promoting excellence and regional pride across all aquatic disciplines.
