3rd Calypso Finswimming Cup 2024 – Risaralda – Colombia

The 3rd Calypso Finswimming Cup 2024 will take place from October 25 to 27, 2024, in Pereira, Colombia, at the Villa Olímpica Aquatic Complex. Organized by the Club Deportivo de Actividades Subacuáticas Calypso and supported by the Risaralda League of Underwater Activities (LASER), this regional and national event will bring together finswimmers of various age categories, from young children to masters, in an exciting weekend of competition.

The event will be held in a 50-meter pool, featuring eight lanes and a depth of 2.25 meters. With the capacity to hold 3,000 spectators, the venue offers ample space for both participants and fans. The competition will kick off on Friday, October 25, at 7:00 p.m. with a warm-up session. The main events will be split across two full days, beginning at 8:00 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Participation and Categories

Athletes from both affiliated and non-affiliated clubs in Colombia are welcome to participate, with no limits on the number of entrants per category or team. Categories range from Infantiles for younger swimmers (8 to 12 years old) to Junior (13 to 17 years old), Senior (18 to 35 years old), and Masters for those over 35. The competition will include individual races and relays in various disciplines, including bi-fins, surface swimming, and apnea.

The age categories are broken down as follows:

• Infantiles F (8-9 years), E (10-11 years), and D12 (12 years)
• Junior categories (13-17 years)
• Senior categories for athletes born between 1989 and 2006
• Master categories for athletes born before 1989, with additional divisions for relays based on age groups.

Event Program and Races

Competitions will span various distances and disciplines, with races such as the 100m and 400m surface events, the 50m and 100m bi-fins events, and the 25m apnea events. For example, younger participants in the Infantiles categories will swim distances like 25m and 50m, while the older categories, including Junior and Senior, will participate in races ranging up to 400m.

Relay events will also feature heavily in the competition, with both mixed-gender and same-gender teams competing across various distances. For instance, there will be 4x50m surface and bi-fins relays, allowing clubs to showcase their teamwork and speed. Registration and Costs

The deadline for registrations is October 11, 2024. Clubs can register through the event’s official platform, and all payments must be made to the Club Deportivo de Actividades Subacuáticas Calypso. The cost for club registration is 310,000 COP, with individual athlete registration set at 70,000 COP. Late registrations will be accepted up to three days after the official deadline, subject to an additional 50% fee.

For clubs with four or fewer athletes, the club registration fee will be waived, though individual athletes will be required to pay a higher registration fee of 130,000 COP. Relay events will incur an additional fee of 40,000 COP per team.

Awards and Recognition

Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event across all categories. Athletes placing fourth to eighth in the Infantiles categories will receive buttons as recognition for their efforts. The best technical performance in the Infantiles category will also be recognized with a special plaque, while the clubs accumulating the highest total medal counts across all categories will be awarded trophies.

Additionally, a plaque will be awarded to the coach of the overall winning club, recognizing their contribution to the team’s success.
