4th Round of the Slovak Finswimming League and Youth League 2024

Countries Europe Slovakia
FINSWIMMER MAGAZINE
Event Date: Oct 5th, 2024

The Slovak Finswimming League and Youth League is an annual competition organized by the Slovak Diving Association (Zväz potápačov Slovenska – ZPS), providing a platform for competitive finswimming across multiple age categories. The upcoming 4th round will be held on October 5, 2024, at the Štiavničky Swimming Pool in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia.

Organizational Details

The event is organized by ZPS, a civic association based in Bratislava, under the leadership of Mgr. Štefan Mika, Chairman of the ZPS Sports Committee. The main referee will be Miroslav Mavrák, while other key organizational and technical roles will be handled by professionals such as Dana Duchoslavová and Daniel Miša.

Participants from various Slovak and international clubs are expected to compete in this prestigious event, with the categories based on birth years ranging from 2006 and older (A category) to 2015 and younger (E0 category). Competitors will race in both individual and relay events, following the rules set forth by CMAS (World Underwater Federation) and Slovak-specific regulations.

Age Categories and Registration Process

The competition welcomes finswimmers across various age groups:

  • Category A: Born in 2006 or earlier.
  • Category B: Born between 2007 and 2008.
  • Category C: Born between 2009 and 2010.
  • Category D: Born between 2011 and 2012.
  • Category E and E0: Born between 2013 and 2014 (E) or 2015 and younger (E0).

The registration deadline is set for Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 20:00. Clubs are required to submit their registrations via email to the designated addresses (office@mates.sk, zps@zps-diving.sk), including both individual and relay participant lists. The entry fee is €20 per participant, and it must be paid along with the submission of the registration form. Late or absent participants will still incur a fee, with no guaranteed acceptance for late entries.

Events and Schedule

The 4th round features a range of finswimming events, ensuring athletes across different age categories can compete in a suitable discipline. The following events are scheduled for the competition:

  • 50 meters, 100 meters, and 200 meters in different styles such as bifins (BF) and monofin (PP).
  • Relay races: A significant highlight of the day is the 4x100m PP relay race. Teams may consist of mixed-gender (MIX) participants, and relays will be categorized based on the oldest swimmer in the team.

The competition day is divided into two parts. The morning session will start at 8:00 AM with participant registration, followed by a warm-up session at 9:30 AM. The actual races will kick off at 10:00 AM, covering events like the 50m PP, 50m BF, and 100m BF, along with the mixed 4x100m PP relay.

After a lunch break, the afternoon session will begin at 2:00 PM and include the 100m PP, 200m PP, and 200m BF races. This session will conclude with the 4x100m PP relay for men and women. The day will end with a closing ceremony at around 7:30 PM, where the top athletes in each category will receive diplomas and medals.

Rules and Technical Specifications

All events will adhere strictly to CMAS and Slovak League rules, ensuring fair competition and safety. Points for the Slovak League standings will be calculated using the CMAS 50-1 points table, with double points awarded for relay events.

An essential requirement for all participants is a valid medical examination, which must be dated within the last 12 months for standard sports physicians or within 3 months for pediatricians. Competitors must also present proof of membership and registration with ZPS. Additionally, doping tests will be conducted as per Slovak sports law, ensuring compliance with anti-doping regulations.

Facilities and Logistics

The event will be held at the modern Štiavničky Swimming Pool, a venue equipped to host competitive finswimming events. The organizers will not provide filling stations for scuba tanks, so teams must ensure their tanks are up to standard, with pressure tests no older than 5 years. Each participant is responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and meals, as these will not be provided by the organizers.

Conclusion

The 4th round of the Slovak League and Youth League 2024 is set to be an exciting event, bringing together Slovakia’s top finswimmers and international competitors. With a well-organized structure, strict adherence to international rules, and a competitive lineup, this event will undoubtedly showcase the best of finswimming talent in the region.
