The 6th National Criterium of Finswimming (6° Criterium Nazionale di Nuoto Pinnato) is set to return to Lignano Sabbiadoro in May 2026. This major event, organized by A.S.D. Sportinacqua under the regulations of FIPSAS, will bring together a diverse range of athletes for a weekend of high-speed underwater competition.
Event Overview and Location
The competition will take place on Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, 2026. The chosen venue is the Villaggio Sportivo “Bella Italia” in Lignano Sabbiadoro, featuring an 8-lane, 50-meter Olympic-sized pool.
The Criterium is uniquely inclusive, featuring categories for:

Competition Schedule
The weekend begins with athlete accreditation on the evening of Friday, May 8. The following two days are packed with various disciplines:

Saturday, May 9: The morning session starts at 9:25 AM, focusing on 50m distances for both “pinne” (bi-fins) and “mono” (monofin) across various age groups, including “Esordienti” (beginners) and CMAS absolute categories. The afternoon session, starting at 3:45 PM, extends these categories to 100m distances and includes specialized 400m events and 50m apnea races.

Sunday, May 10: The final day begins at 9:25 AM with 200m distances for bi-fins and monofin. The morning also features high-stakes 4x100m relay races for CMAS absolute categories.

The 2026 edition boasts significant participation, with 357 athletes representing 28 different sports clubs. Notable teams include:
