National Finswimming Championship of Argentine 1st date – Puerto Madryn

Countries Americas Argentina
FINSWIMMER MAGAZINE
Start Date: Feb 22nd, 2020 | End Date: Feb 23rd, 2020

Between February 22 and 23, 2020, in the City of Puerto Madryn, Chubut, Argentina, the First date of the Argentine Finswimming Championship of the Argentine Federation of Underwater Activities (FAAS) was held.

Under the program of the Week of Underwater Activities organized by the CNAS (South Atlantic Yacht Club), sharing the schedule with Sub and Apnea Fishing, they had the technical and sports endorsement of the mentioned federation.

On this occasion, its concretion has been feasible, due to the invaluable action of its local coordinator, Mr. Néstor Ortiz, the club’s wheelhouse team, that of the regional members of the FAAS Swimming Commission, the Training Area Academic and Extension of the FAAS by Mr. Alejandro E. Ruiz Diaz and the primary presence of fin swimmers.

In principle, on February 22 between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., in the CNAS projection classroom, the theoretical contents pertaining to Phase 2 of the FAAS Judges Training program in Finswimming were dictated. Present and existing students were present, all applicants for national certification.

On the closing of one of the theoretical modules, the controls of the regulatory documentation for the participation of the athletes who had to attend for their accreditation were already carried out as a workshop. The same was also done with their fins and snorkels. They were given an identification hat and pennant to stick in the snorkel with their federated fin swimmer number.

On February 23, at 6.30 am (AM) the tasks prior to the competition, preparation of boats, nautical transfers, location of the demarcation material of the competitive space (buoys, funnel and arrival arch), as well as the preparations began from the control table.

As part of the FAAS Judges Course Workshop, the final adjustments for security activities were coordinated on site (Lifeguard Corps of the City of Puerto Madryn, medical staff and ambulance). They included the logistics of attention and immediate rescue in the case of emergencies.

A helmsman, a judge and a lifeguard were placed on the circuit in each vessel so that they could fulfill their arbitration functions (1500m triangle, whose sides of 650mx200mx650m, 5 vessels anchored, a floating base for judges of arrival and chronometritas).

In addition to the basic arbitration actions, the future FAAS Judges in Finswimming were trained in the knowledge of the mobility of the vessels and specific actions during the test, in accordance with the provisions of the CMAS 2020 regulation. The overwhelming work is highlighted of the Lifeguard Corps of the City of Puerto Madryn, who in addition to the positions on the boats, made available lifeguards within the circuit with special rescue tables, own boats, personnel on land and even the transmission of live competition in their audiovisual channel on Facebook.

The approved applicants are as follows

PHASE 2: CALFUQUIR ELISA MABEL DNI 18290203. FEITO GROSSO MARTINA DNI 45115438. FEITO MARCELO FABIAN DNI 23699750. SORIA OSVALDO DNI 14417443. STRASSER FRANCO DNI 40209872

PHASE 1: GABRIELA CENADOR DNI 26531526. GUERRERO PABLO DNI 31625723. IRIBARREN IMANOL DNI 43754099

The competition was developed in optimal weather conditions and was attended by 12 federated swimmers and 4 promotional swimmers.

The Neptune Club of the city of Comodoro Rivadavia (11 federated and 4 promotional), the School of Aquatic Activities Swimming with fins and mono-fins of the CSDM of Puerto Madryn (1 federated), were the ones who fed sportsmen to this first national date 2020.

It should be noted that a renewed FAAS strategy for the formation of fin swimmers that involves the different stages of human life (from childhood to adulthood) is underway, hence the low number of participants at the moment.
