On May 2, 2025, during the Finswimming Russian Championship held in Novosibirsk, Russian athlete Fedkin Alexey (born in 2002) delivered a remarkable performance in the men’s 400 metres bifins (400 BF), finishing with an astonishing time of 3:23.92.
Although this time surpasses the current official world record, it is considered an unofficial world record due to the absence of anti-doping controls during the event. As per CMAS regulations, for a world record to be ratified, strict anti-doping protocols must be in place and properly documented.
Nonetheless, Fedkin’s performance marks a significant milestone in the discipline of bifins swimming, reflecting both the high level of competition in Russia and the growing athleticism in this category. His time of 3:23.92, if officially recognized, would set a new global benchmark in the event.
The swim took place in front of a national audience as part of the Finswimming Russian Championship, one of the most competitive national finswimming events in the world. The venue, Novosibirsk, has increasingly become a hotspot for elite-level finswimming in recent years.
While the record remains unofficial, the finswimming community continues to take note of Fedkin Alexey as one of the top athletes to watch on the international scene.
The current Official World Record, owned by himself too, is 03:25.02.
