Back-to-Back World Records in Chios: Korompylis and Saprykina Shine in 200m Immersion Finals

A historic day unfolded at the CMAS Finswimming Junior World Championships 2025 in Chios, Greece, where the spotlight turned to the recently added 200 meters Immersion race — and it did not disappoint.

In a span of minutes, the event witnessed two Junior World Records, as the world watched two young stars rise beneath the surface.

🇬🇷 Korompylis Lifts the Roof in Chios with Home Victory and World Record

The crowd at the Chios Aquatic Center erupted when Angelos Korompylis of Greece delivered a sensational gold-medal performance, clocking 1:18.78, setting a brand new Junior World Record (WJ). With smooth and powerful underwater strokes, Korompylis dominated the race from the start, holding off a strong challenge from D. Romashov (CM1), who touched in 1:20.39, earning the silver medal. The bronze went to PENALOZA MORERA of Colombia with 1:23.47.

🌍 Saprykina Soars: World Record for the Rising Star from CM1

Just before Korompylis’ incredible swim, the women’s final saw Ksenia Saprykina (CM1) set the tone by finishing in 1:20.84, also establishing a new Junior World Record. Her technique was flawless, with excellent air management and propulsion. Germany’s H. Troppschuh secured silver in 1:26.94, while Hungary’s H.B. Horpacsy took bronze with 1:28.88.
