🇭🇺 Champs of the Past: Peter Vinkler [2009], Finswimmer Magazine - Finswimming News

Hello Peter, thanks a lot for this interview for Finswimmer Magazine, what age did you start to finswim? And before?
When I was 4 years old in 1987 and this year when I started the racing. Before? – i was just too young! 🙂

When did you understand that Finswimming was the right sport for you?
Yes, this is a really good question! I was 10 years old when my trainer Laszlo Kovacs asked me:  “Peter do you want to swim faster and traveling a lot all over the World? Do you want to see Europe and swim with fins?” And that was what I wanted! Swim faster and faster and traveling a lot. And this time when I understand my HEROES – my teamfriends why they are training so hard 10 times for a week!

Which was the more significant moment in your Finswimming Career?
The first time was in 1996 at the Junior European Championship in Liberec-Czeh Republik – I was only 13 years old but this time when I saw the real picture about the Finswimming World! And this time when I draw to myself that I wanted to be a World Champion in this Sport! But the most significant moment were Patras-Greece in 2002 the 2 gold medals in 800m Sf and 1500m Sf with new World Records.

Now that you don’t swim anymore, what do you do in your life?
Now I’m a fire fighter in my little town Kaposvar-Hungary and I love my workplace!

How a Finswimmer should be to become a Champion?
Really old question BUT really good! I think  I belive the old theory about the training: hard training 10 times a week and be careful for your health. And a “new” think: the mental training is very important. Because you will be the strongest-hardest swimmer if you can’t know use your power about your heart and brain! Because what you feel in your heart, a think in your brain thats what your muscle can DO!

How do you see Finswimming in the Future? If you could, what would you do to let Finswimming grow up?
This is important question but to tell the trues in my country the leaders are not the best and they don’t do anything about the youth finswimmers! I know the most popular sportmans in the adulthood but the future is in the 8-10 years old little boys and girls! and every year is less sportmans to year to year and this is sad! I try to help anyting in my team in Kaposvár help to train the team, or paperwork.

Finswimming took you all over the World, did you get a lot of friends? Are you always in contact with them?
Yes! 🙂 I think i have a lot of friends all over the World! From China to Sweden and from Finland to Jordan all over Europe and the world!the contacts is continuous! I like them and I hope they are like me too! 🙂 The first thing what am I learning from the sport: the frends are more reach than the gold medal! The medal is only a thing but a real friend?! Thats why am I try hold the contacts abuot my friends all over the finswimmer world!

Tell us your former finswimming day, what did you do during your day when you used to train?
First the early morning training from 6 to 7:30 it was gym and a little swim and the afternoon just swim from 3pm – to 5:30pm. and that was from Monday to Friday and sometimes in Saturday morning the technik training.

Who was, or who were your best enemies (only in the water)? Tell us something about them and the best fights!
The Best fight?! So i loved all my fight to the best swimmers: Gergely Juhos, Kotov Maxim,Thomais D., Stefano F., Sven L., Igor S., Szurmiej M., you Davide., Nikolaj R., And a lot of people! The best fights? – when i lost some fights thats were my best things because I understand the real important things and humble to the sport!

Say whatever you want (Free topic)
Everybody train a lot but take care your own self. And Merry Xmas for every people all over the World and wish a Happy New Year!
🇭🇺 Champs of the Past: Peter Vinkler [2009], Finswimmer Magazine - Finswimming News

Prima? – Ero troppo piccolo! 🙂

When did you understand that Finswimming was the right sport for you?
Bene, Ottima domanda!

Domanda tanto vecchia quanto bella!

Chi era, o chi erano i tuoi nemici migliori (solo in acqua)?

E Buon Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo a tutti!!
