The 2025 CMAS European Championship Finswimming Indoor promises to be one of the most prestigious and exciting events in the world of underwater sports. Scheduled to take place from 15th to 21st July 2025 in the charming city of Olsztyn, Poland, this championship will gather Europe’s top finswimmers for a week of fierce competition and sporting excellence.

A Warm Welcome to Olsztyn

Jarosław Kukliński, the President of the Polish Underwater Federation, warmly welcomed athletes, coaches, and fans to Olsztyn, expressing his excitement about hosting such a significant event. He highlighted the city’s rich history, beautiful natural surroundings, and modern facilities as the perfect backdrop for an international championship of this scale. Kukliński emphasized the values of fair play, camaraderie, and passion that define finswimming, encouraging participants to push their limits and inspire others through their performances.

The Host City: Olsztyn

Olsztyn, located in the heart of Poland’s “Land of a Thousand Lakes,” offers a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Visitors will have the chance to explore the picturesque Old Town, home to medieval architecture and the historic Olsztyn Castle, where Nicolaus Copernicus once resided. The city also boasts an array of cafes, restaurants, and museums, providing a rich cultural experience. For sports enthusiasts, Olsztyn’s pristine lakes and well-maintained trails make it an ideal spot for both water and land-based activities.

State-of-the-Art Competition Venue

The championship will be held at the WCRS Aquasfera sports complex, a modern facility that meets all CMAS standards. The venue features a 50-meter pool with 10 lanes, seating for approximately 1,500 spectators, and essential facilities such as spacious locker rooms, warm-up areas, and dedicated rooms for officials and media. With water temperature maintained at 27°C (+/- 1°C) and a depth of 2.00 – 2.10 meters, the Aquasfera ensures an optimal environment for high-performance competition.

Competition Schedule and Events

The championship will span four days of competition, with qualifying heats held in the mornings and finals in the afternoons. The events include a wide range of disciplines:

  • Surface Finswimming (SF): 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m
  • Apnea (AP): 50m
  • Immersion (IM): 100m, 200m, 400m
  • Bi Fins (BF): 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m
  • Relays: Mixed 4x100m BF and SF events

Each national federation is allowed to enter two swimmers per event and one relay team. Mixed relays will follow a set order of man-woman-man-woman. Doping control will be conducted according to CMAS and WADA guidelines to ensure fair competition.

Participation and Logistics

All participants must hold a valid CMAS license and adhere to CMAS rules and safety regulations. Registration and fee payments must be completed through the CMAS portal by 15th June 2025. The organizers will provide full-board accommodation, transportation between the official hotels and the venue, and support with visas if needed.

Experience Olsztyn Beyond the Competition

Olsztyn is more than just a sporting destination. Athletes and visitors can unwind at local attractions, including the Astronomical Observatory, the municipal beach at Ukiel Lake, and the vibrant Old Town. Accommodation options range from the modern Hampton by Hilton to the elegant Best Western Plus Hotel Olsztyn Old Town.
