Day of Stayer 2025: Krasnoyarsk Showcases Finswimming Excellence

On January 18, 2025, the pool “DWS SibSU” in Krasnoyarsk hosted the city and regional competitions in underwater sports, titled the “Day of Stayer.” This annual event, held in memory of Master of Sport Evgeny Evtushenko, brought together promising young finswimmers from across the Krasnoyarsk region, highlighting the growing popularity and competitive spirit of the sport.

A Gathering of Talent

Organized by the Krasnoyarsk Regional Federation of Underwater Sports and supported by the Ministry of Sports of Krasnoyarsk Krai, the competition attracted 168 participants aged 12 to 17, representing ten teams from six regions. Athletes competed in a range of events, including 400m classic fins, 800m, and 1500m finswimming races. The day’s events emphasized stamina and technique, reflecting the “Stayer” spirit celebrated by the competition.

Key Performances

The “Day of Stayer” was marked by exceptional performances from junior and youth swimmers. Among the highlights:

  • Girls 800m Finswimming: Varvara Kovalevich from “Sputnik-Avangard” clinched first place with a time of 8:18.80. Her performance demonstrated remarkable endurance and technique, setting a high standard for her peers.
  • Boys 800m Finswimming: Maxim Gabdulkhaev of Achinsk Swimming School secured victory with a time of 8:33.76, showcasing his exceptional skill and determination in a closely contested race.
  • Girls 1500m Finswimming: Olga Petrovskaya of “Sputnik-Avangard” emerged victorious with a time of 14:56.71, narrowly edging out her teammate Anastasia Chebotareva by just 0.10 seconds. Their head-to-head competition kept spectators on edge.
  • Boys 1500m Finswimming: Vladimir Tarasov, representing “Sputnik-Avangard,” dominated the event with a time of 13:25.63, earning the prestigious rank of Candidate for Master of Sport (CMS).

Team Contributions

“Sputnik-Avangard,” one of the prominent teams, delivered outstanding results, with multiple podium finishes across different age categories. Their consistent success reflected the dedication of their coaches, led by Pavel Popov, a Judge of All-Russian Category, and Elena Reddy, Chief Secretary of the event. Other notable teams included “DVS SibSU” from Krasnoyarsk and “Diаnema,” whose swimmers demonstrated competitive prowess.

Supporting the Future of Underwater Sports

The “Day of Stayer” competition is more than a test of endurance; it is a platform for young athletes to showcase their abilities, build camaraderie, and set benchmarks for future events. The meticulous organization by the Krasnoyarsk Regional Federation of Underwater Sports ensured a professional and inspiring environment for participants and spectators alike.

The success of this event underscores the dedication to nurturing young talent and promoting finswimming as a dynamic and engaging discipline. As these young athletes continue to develop, competitions like the “Day of Stayer” will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping the future stars of the sport.

Looking Ahead

With the growing interest in finswimming in Krasnoyarsk and beyond, the region remains a hub for talent development. The “Day of Stayer” serves as a reminder of the sport’s potential to inspire and unite, paving the way for more regional, national, and international achievements.
