🌟 Double Relay Glory: China and Germany Smash World Records at The World Games 2025 🌟
The CSU Natatorium in Chengdu, China, became the epicenter of finswimming history on August 10–11, 2025, as two electrifying relay performances rewrote the record books at The World Games.
🇨🇳 China Dominates Women’s 4x50m Surface Relay – New World Record
On August 11, the People’s Republic of China delivered a masterclass in speed and precision in the Women’s 4x50m Surface Relay final. The quartet of Xie Wenmin, Shu Chengjing, Xu Yichuan, and Hu Yayao touched in 1:07.99, shattering the previous world record of 1:08.12 set by another Chinese team in Belgrade (2022).
Their performance also eclipsed the World Games record of 1:08.95 from Birmingham 2022. With lightning-fast splits, the Chinese swimmers established a lead from the opening 50 meters and never looked back, finishing 0.83 seconds ahead of silver medalists Colombia, with Ukraine claiming bronze.
🇩🇪 Germany Flies to Men’s 4x50m Surface Relay World Record
A day earlier, on August 10, the German men’s team of Max Poschart, Heiko Lössern, Nikas Heiko, and Justus Morstedt stunned the crowd with an explosive swim in the Men’s 4x50m Surface Relay. Clocking 59.35 seconds, they became the first team in history to break the one-minute barrier, obliterating the previous record of 1:00.50 set by Germany in Olsztyn (2025).
Germany’s flawless exchanges and sheer power left their rivals behind, with Ukraine taking silver (+0.91) and Colombia bronze (+1.01). The result also marked the fastest relay ever recorded at The World Games, setting a benchmark for future teams.
Two Days, Two World Records
These back-to-back relay world records highlight the explosive growth and competitiveness of finswimming at the elite level. China’s dominance in the women’s race and Germany’s historic sub-one-minute men’s swim will be remembered as defining moments of The World Games 2025.
