Malaysia’s flagship youth finswimming series returns for its second edition — and this time, it’s international. Everything you need to know about Leg 1 in Ipoh this May.
📅 23 May 2026 | 📍 Tuanku Zara Aquatic Center, Ipoh | 🕖 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Ages 6–17 · Open internationally
The hibiscus blooms again. For the second year running, the Malaysia Finswimming Association (MFSA) is opening the lanes for young athletes around the region to compete, connect, and chase the coveted 5 Petals Challenge Trophy — and the 2026 edition is bigger than ever.
The 2nd Bunga Raya International Children & Junior Finswimming Competition kicks off on 23 May 2026 at the Tuanku Zara Aquatic Center in Ipoh, Perak — a world-class, international-standard facility equipped with ALGE timing systems, scoreboards, judging consoles, and touch pads. Leg 1 is the first of two rounds this year, with points carrying forward to Leg 2 for a combined overall ranking.
“Points accumulated in Leg 1 will be added to Leg 2 to get the overall marks. The team with the highest points will bring back the 5 Petals Challenge Trophy.”
Who can enter?
The competition is open to clubs from Malaysia and abroad. The one key eligibility restriction: past medal winners at CMAS Finswimming events, previous Bunga Raya editions, or National Championships in their home countries are not permitted to participate. The event is designed for emerging competitors yet to claim a podium at that level.
All athletes must compete under a club affiliation, and every club must designate a Team Manager. Six age groups cover the full junior range:
- Group G: 6–7 years
- Group F: 8–9 years
- Group E: 10–11 years
- Group D: 12–13 years
- Group C: 14–15 years
- Group B: 16–17 years
Events on the programme
The competition runs in Time Finals format. Snorkels are mandatory for all events — no splash guards permitted. Younger groups (G & F) in Surface events are restricted to Rubber Monofins or Bifins.
