Finswimming Cup of Urals 2024

The “Cup of the Urals” finswimming tournament was held from November 8 to 10, 2024, at the “DVVS” PMBU Sports and Fitness Centre “Start” in Pervouralsk, Russia. This regional competition attracted athletes from Sverdlovsk and neighboring areas, bringing together young talents in underwater sports, specifically finswimming, with races held in a 50-meter pool equipped with a SEIKO electronic timing system.

The event featured various categories across age groups, from juniors (2007-2010) to younger children (2015 and later). Participants competed in two main finswimming disciplines: traditional finswimming and swimming in classical fins. Distances ranged from 50 meters to 400 meters, testing athletes’ speed and endurance.

The results showed intense competition, especially among junior categories. In the 100m finswimming races, standout performances included those by Vladislav Markov, who clocked an impressive 38.14 seconds in his age group. In the younger girls’ category, Alexandra Petrova emerged as a top competitor in the 50m event, securing her position as one of the fastest in her age bracket.

The event was organized with the support of the Sverdlovsk Regional Underwater Sports Federation and the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Sverdlovsk Region, highlighting the significance of underwater sports within the region. Judges and officials from various cities contributed to the smooth operation of the tournament, ensuring accurate results and a fair competition environment.

Overall, the “Cup of the Urals” served as an essential platform for young finswimmers to showcase their skills and gain competitive experience. It also reinforced the importance of regional tournaments in nurturing future talents in finswimming, aligning with the broader goals of the Russian underwater sports community to promote the sport at a national level.
