Turin to Host National Finswimming Championship on February 1st
The sports association “La Salle Eridano” is organizing the inaugural FIPSAS Day, a national finswimming competition that will take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Trecate municipal pool in Turin. The event, held under the aegis and recognition of FIPSAS (Italian Federation of Underwater Activities), promises to be a significant gathering for finswimming athletes across Italy.
Venue and Facilities
The competition will be held at Piscina Comunale Trecate, located at Via Vasile Alecsandri 27/A in Turin. The facility features a 50-meter pool with 8 lanes and depths ranging from 1.20 to 3.50 meters, providing ideal conditions for finswimming events. The venue is conveniently accessible via metro from Turin’s Porta Susa railway station.
Competition Categories
FIPSAS Day will feature an extensive program catering to swimmers across multiple age categories and skill levels, from beginners (esordienti A1-A2, B1-B2) to seniors and masters. The event includes both individual and relay races in two primary disciplines: bifins (pinne) and monofin (monopinna).
Individual Events:
- 50m and 100m races in apnea, bifins, and monofin across all categories
- 400m bifins/monofin for absolute CMAS categories (U18/O18)
- Special CMAS absolute 50m and 100m events for both disciplines
- Masters events for U50 and O50 age groups
- Time trials available for 200m in bifins and monofin styles
Relay Events:
- 4x50m bifins relay (mixed, 2 female/2 male) for beginner categories
- 4x100m bifins relay (mixed, 2 female/2 male) for absolute category
- 4x100m bifins relay for masters CMAS absolute (mixed)
Athletes may participate in all events designated for their category without limitations.
Registration and Fees
Teams must register through the federal online system by midnight on January 25, 2026. Late registrations will not be accepted under any circumstances. The registration fees are set at €5.50 per individual race, €11 for relay teams, and €15 per participating club. Payment must be completed by the registration deadline via bank transfer to the organizing association.
Event Schedule
The competition day begins early, with all teams required to check in at 8:30 AM for federal position verification. Warm-up sessions are gender-separated: female swimmers from 8:30 to 8:55 AM, followed by male swimmers from 8:55 to 9:20 AM. Racing is scheduled to commence at 9:30 AM.
Technical Details
Professional timing will be provided by the Italian Timekeepers Federation, Turin section, using automatic chronometry systems. Federal race officials from Piedmont will oversee the competition, ensuring adherence to regulations.
Awards and Recognition
Individual awards will be presented throughout the competition day, requiring medalists to remain available for ceremonies as directed by the race director. Unlike many swimming competitions, there will be no team classification or team awards at this event.
