Official Letter about Junior French Team not going to Egypt

Ladies and gentlemen,
Dear members of the French Junior Team of Finswimming,

Ministry of Europe and Ministry of Foreign Affairs classify Sharm el-Sheik area (Egypt) in the orange zone (frequentation not recommended) and its immediate surrounding area in the zone red (attendance is formally discouraged).

The Ministry of Sports therefore asks us (Federal President and DTN) to take into account this situation to decide whether to send a team from France to the next Junior World Championship to be held in this area at the end of July (see mail dated May 29, 2019 attached).

The situation was presented to the National Steering Committee on June 1st, a steering committee which decided to cancel the participation of the France Junior team because of the impossibility of guarantee the security of the French delegation being specified that it is composed of athletes minors (14 – 17 years old).

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by this decision. That being so, if this decision is regrettable for you and your environment, this one is obviously responsible, France being a permanent target of international terrorism.

We are therefore working on a quality fallback solution as soon as possible in the objective of offering you a rewarding action with regard to your sporting results during the selection.

We will obviously take into account this particular situation to establish the list of athletes which will be offered to the Ministry of Sports as a high level athlete or hopeful athlete at November 1, 2019.
