The Thuringia Diving Sports Association (Tauchsportverband Thüringen e.V.) has announced its Open State Championships in Finswimming for 2026, set to take place on January 24th at the Roland Matthes Swimming Hall in Erfurt, Germany.
Event Overview
The competition will be hosted by the Tauchsportclub Erfurt e.V. at a world-class facility featuring an 8-lane, 50-meter pool with a consistent depth of 1.80 meters and a water temperature of approximately 26°C. The event will utilize automatic timing systems with touch pads in the target area, ensuring accurate results for all competitors.
Schedule and Logistics
The championship day begins early, with registration and entry opening at 7:30 AM, followed by a warm-up period from 7:45 to 8:45 AM. The competition officially kicks off at 9:00 AM after team leader and referee meetings, with an expected conclusion around 7:30 PM. The registration deadline is January 17, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
Competition Categories
The event features an extensive program of 26 different competitions across various disciplines:
- Surface swimming (AP, BF, and ST categories)
- Finswimming (FS) at distances ranging from 50m to 1500m
- Bi-fins swimming (DB) for younger age groups (born 2015-2018)
- Relay races including mixed 4x50m and 4x100m events
Competitors are divided into multiple age categories, from youth swimmers born in 2018 to Masters divisions extending to athletes born in 1946 and earlier.
Eligibility and Requirements
Athletes must hold valid VDST (German Underwater Sports Federation) starting rights for finswimming and present appropriate documentation, including competition passes, medical certification of fitness (not older than one year), and parental consent for minors. International athletes are welcome if their national federation is a member of CMAS (World Underwater Federation).
Judging and Awards
The competition requires clubs to provide licensed referees based on the number of registered starts—one referee per 20 starts for Thuringian clubs, and one referee for non-Thuringian clubs with more than three participants. A €100 penalty applies for failure to provide required officials.
Awards will be presented across multiple categories, with medals for the top three finishers in Thuringian rankings. All participants will receive certificates documenting their performances.
Entry Fees and Registration
Individual starts cost €6.00, while relay entries are €8.00. Payment must be transferred in advance to the association’s account, with proof of payment presented at registration. The complete registration process, including relay team compositions and referee assignments, must be completed through the official website at fs-ergebnisse.de/2026/thlm.
Special Notes
Organizers emphasize that divers must bring pre-filled diving equipment, as on-site filling facilities will not be available. The event also adheres to anti-doping regulations set by VDST and NADA (National Anti-Doping Agency), with all participants agreeing to these standards upon registration.
This championship represents a significant event in the German finswimming calendar, offering both competitive opportunities for elite athletes and a welcoming platform for developing swimmers across all age groups.
