An interesting mixed event was going held in the city of Angouleme in France. It’s called PALMATHLON and it consists of 2 sports: Finswimming and Running.
Course of the event:
This event has two disciplines: finswimming with or without support and running.
Two possibilities :
- In individual: the competitor carries out the swimming course and connects the running until arrival (starting point of the swim).
Vehicles will be responsible for the transfer of running kits and combinations of departure and the arrival of the swimming (parking of the green flow in Fléac).
- In team: At the end of the swimming event, located in Fléac, the swimmer crosses the buoy demarcating the finish, and passes the relay to his running mate behind a line
materialized by a rubalise. The rider continues with the return circuit along the path to the finish in front of the CAMS (starting point of the swimmers).
– The start will take place at Saint Cybard (Angoulême), at the CAMS launching pontoon. At Thouérat lock (about 3000m) swimmers will come out of the water at the upstream pontoon and
will leave the pontoon downstream to continue until the arrival at Fléac (about 2000m) upstream of the Basseau lock.
The freedom to be assisted by a teammate at the exit and release at the water Thouérat lock is allowed.
– The second part of the event, running, will bring participants back to CAMS. borrowing the green flow (5000m). Establishment of a mid-term refueling station.
