Today, June 24th 2022, during the third day of the CMAS Junior Finswimming Championships 2022 in Poznań (Poland), a rather serious fact has happened.
It happened that the medal for winning a race went into the wrong hands, or we should say around the wrong neck.
In fact during the final of the 50 bf boys race, something did not work as we expected with the timekeeping system and the Chief Judge.
The Italian boy Patrick Martin has seen vanishing the dream he was waiting for so long to come true. The electronic timing and arrival system did not worked properly and thus gave the victory to the Hungarian Lipak, even if the latter was clearly behind the Italian Martin.
The complaints were useless and even the chief judge said that he touched the Hungarian first. How is it possible?
Too bad there was overwhelming evidence, the live video of the performance. It clearly shows that the victory should have gone to Patrick Martin and not to Lipak.
In the next screenshots you can see it. Lipak is wrongly is given as the winner even before he has touched the yellow plate, but Martin did!
Nobody knows what happened…but the responsibility is all on the Chief Judge.
Here the video of the race.
