The 2025 CMAS Open Water World Championship Finswimming

Countries Africa Egypt
FINSWIMMER MAGAZINE
Start Date: Oct 7th, 2025 | End Date: Oct 12th, 2025

🌊 A Mediterranean Dream: The 2025 CMAS World Championship Finswimming Open Water Heads to Egypt

From October 7 to 12, 2025, the crystal-clear waters of Egypt’s North Coast will set the stage for one of the most prestigious finswimming events in the world—the CMAS World Championship Finswimming Open Water for Seniors and Juniors. Hosted in the captivating coastal resort of Marina Alamein, this global gathering promises not only a showcase of elite athleticism but also a celebration of international friendship, cultural heritage, and aquatic excellence.

🇪🇬 Welcome to the Heart of the Mediterranean

Egypt is no stranger to global wonders, and in 2025 it adds another jewel to its crown. With a warm invitation extended by Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sport Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, the championship is framed not merely as a competition, but as a moment of harmony—where speed meets serenity and tradition meets transformation.

Location: Marina el-Alamein, El Alamein, Governatorato di Matruh, Egitto

The host venue, Porto Marina Resort & Spa, lies nestled along the pristine Mediterranean shoreline, offering an ideal location for high-level competition. Calm turquoise waters, a warm climate (with average temperatures of 27°C), and world-class facilities will welcome athletes, coaches, and fans from around the globe.

🌍 A Global Community United by the Sea

As CMAS President Anna Arzhanova emphasized, this championship goes beyond medals and records—it represents unity, excellence, and the shared passion that binds the finswimming community across continents. The Egyptian Diving and Lifesaving Federation (EDLF), led by Sameh Elshazly, is at the helm of the event’s organization, ensuring every detail—from logistics to hospitality—is of the highest standard.

Whether you’re a senior athlete chasing legacy or a junior swimmer stepping onto the international stage for the first time, Marina Alamein will offer both a challenge and an inspiration.

🏊‍♂️ Competition Program: A Showcase of Endurance and Speed

Across three exciting competition days (October 9–11), swimmers will compete in a variety of events under the official CMAS finswimming rules. The program includes:

Individual Races (Men & Women – Senior & Junior):

  • 5 km Surface Finswimming (SF)

  • 150 m Elimination Race (SF and BF)

Relay Races:

  • 4×1 km Surface Bi-Fins Mixed
  • 4×150 m Elimination Relay Mixed

Mixed relay teams must consist of two female and two male swimmers, following a men-women-men-women order.

🥇 Awards and Anti-Doping Measures

Medals will be awarded in every event and category—celebrating the elite efforts of men, women, and mixed teams. True to international sports standards, doping control will be enforced in collaboration with WADA and CMAS anti-doping regulations, ensuring the integrity and fairness of the competition.

📅 Key Dates and Schedule Highlights

  • October 7 – Arrival of delegations and official training
  • October 8 – Technical and Judges Meetings, Opening Ceremony
