Young finswimmers showcased their talent at the Novosibirsk Regional Underwater Sports Championship, held from February 26–28, 2026, at the 50-meter Neptune Swimming Pool in Novosibirsk, Russia. The competition featured junior athletes (14–17 years) and younger categories (12–13 years) competing in several disciplines of underwater sports, including finswimming, classical finswimming, underwater swimming, and dynamic apnea with fins.
In the 50m dynamic apnea with fins, the junior girls’ event was won by Sofya Syryamina (2009) from the Center of Water Sports School with a time of 16.99, while Zakhar Zemlyakov (2009) claimed victory in the junior boys’ race with 15.37.
The 200m classical bifins events also delivered strong performances. Sofya Ushakova (2009) took first place among junior girls in 1:48.82, while Grigoriy Gareev (2009) led the junior boys’ field with 1:45.52.
In the 200m finswimming race, Daria Chukina (2010) topped the junior girls with 1:39.68, while a thrilling finish in the junior boys’ race saw Andrey Volnenko (2010) win in 1:26.06, just 0.02 seconds ahead of Zakhar Zemlyakov.
The championship brought together clubs such as GAU DO NSO “SShOR VVS”, MAUDO SShOR “Center of Water Sports”, and others from the region, highlighting the depth of young talent in Russian finswimming. With electronic timing provided by the ALGE-TIMING system, the event delivered precise results and exciting races across all age categories.
The competition once again demonstrated the strong development of youth underwater sports in the Novosibirsk region, with many promising athletes showing performances that could lead them to national and international stages in the coming years.
