The World Games Series 2025: Chengdu to Host the Second Edition - Finswimmer Magazine

The second edition of The World Games Series (TWGS) will take place in Chengdu, China, from March 28 to 30, 2025. The event will be held at the Sancha Lake campus of the Chengdu Sport University and follows the successful inaugural edition in Hong Kong, China, in October 2024. The TWG Series continues to bring together world-class athletes, providing them with additional international exposure. Furthermore, this event will serve as a qualifier for The World Games 2025, offering coveted spots in three featured sports: Underwater Sports (CMAS), Lifesaving (ILS), and Boules Sports (WPBF).

Athlete Participation and Gender Parity

A total of 128 athletes will compete in the event, achieving full gender parity:

Underwater Sports: 64 athletes (24 men and 24 women in Finswimming, 8 men and 8 women in Apnea)
Lifesaving: 48 athletes (24 men and 24 women)
Boules Sports: 16 athletes (8 men and 8 women)

Qualification for The World Games 2025

With qualification spots at stake, the competition is expected to be intense as athletes strive to secure their places for The World Games 2025, scheduled from August 7 to 17, 2025.

For Underwater Sports, the qualification process is as follows:

Finswimming: Winners of the races will qualify if they have not yet secured a spot. Up to 12 slots may be contested, though the final number of qualifiers is expected to be one or two.

Apnea: Four slots are available, with two athletes qualifying per gender.

A Test Event for The World Games 2025
