European Finswimming Championships 2025 – Poland

Countries Europe Poland
FINSWIMMER MAGAZINE
Start Date: Jul 15th, 2025 | End Date: Jul 20th, 2025

The European Finswimming Championships 2025 are set to be a major highlight in the underwater sports calendar, with the city of Olsztyn, Poland, potentially playing host to this prestigious event. After being posted the first time in the Italian Finswimming 2025 calendar, that shows this interesting information. now it’s also available on the official CMAS web site! The event dates will be July 15th-20th 2025.

A Rising Venue in Aquatic Sports

Olsztyn, located in northeastern Poland, is known for its picturesque lakes and rivers, making it a fitting choice for a championship that celebrates speed and grace beneath the water. Though it may not be as internationally recognized as other European cities, Olsztyn boasts a strong sporting culture, with excellent aquatic facilities. The city’s Aquasfera Olsztyn sports complex, which includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool, could serve as an ideal location for the competition, offering athletes a world-class venue to showcase their skills.

Hosting the European Finswimming Championships could also bring greater visibility to Olsztyn, positioning it as a destination for international sporting events. Poland has already proven itself as a capable host for several CMAS finswimming competitions in the past, including national and regional events. The 2025 championships could further establish the country’s reputation as a central hub for the sport in Europe.

Anticipated Highlights

The European Finswimming Championships will attract the continent’s top athletes, and excitement is building around the potential matchups and performances. With both sprint and endurance events on the schedule, fans will witness intense competition in disciplines ranging from surface finswimming (SF) to immersion (IM) and apnea (AP). Finswimmers from countries like Italy, Russia, and Hungary—traditionally strong in the sport—will aim to dominate the podium, but they could face stiff competition from emerging talents across Europe.

The 2025 edition is expected to feature a mix of individual and relay events, with athletes competing in distances from 50 meters to 1500 meters. The inclusion of both junior and senior categories will ensure that young talents have a platform to shine alongside seasoned professionals, fostering the next generation of finswimmers.

Building Momentum for Finswimming

The 2025 European Championships will also be crucial in maintaining the momentum that finswimming has gained in recent years. As more nations invest in their finswimming programs, the level of competition continues to rise. New technologies in finswimming gear, including monofins and breathing apparatus, have pushed the boundaries of what athletes can achieve in the water. These innovations will likely be on full display in Olsztyn, as athletes look to break records and set new standards in speed and technique.

The event will also serve as a key opportunity for athletes to qualify for the upcoming 2026 CMAS World Championships, making every race critical for those aiming to secure their spot on the global stage.
