Following the devastating double earthquake that struck Venezuela on Wednesday, June 24th, 2026, the Sportsub & Sportalsub team, writing from Caracas, has shared a message of condolence and solidarity with all those affected — particularly in the state of La Guaira and other hard-hit regions.
The team expressed deep gratitude to the members of the underwater activities community who joined search, rescue, and relief efforts from the very first hours, as well as to those collecting supplies for victims. Recognizing that recovery will unfold in phases, Sportalsub announced it will organize mechanisms through its platform to channel support effectively during the reconstruction period.
Among the organizations accepting donations is the UCV Firefighters Foundation, which supports volunteer firefighters and rescue teams in Venezuela with critical equipment and humanitarian relief (donations via ucvfirefighters.org).
The message emphasized that in times like these, sport takes a back seat: the absolute priority is life, mutual support, and rebuilding. Community members in affected areas are invited to reach out through Sportalsub’s network, while those in safe positions are encouraged to support official collection centers and follow the instructions of local authorities.
Closing with thanks to the international underwater community for its messages of encouragement, Miguel Cedeño and the Sportsub & Sportalsub team offered a fitting reflection: underwater sports teach us to withstand pressure, stay calm in the hardest moments, and always surface for a stronger breath — and this time will be no exception.
