Regional Underwater Sports Championships Held in Voronezh
From 21 to 23 January 2026, the Sports and Recreation Centre “Volna” (50-metre pool) in Voronezh, Voronezh Region, hosted the Regional Underwater Sports Championships, an event dedicated to the liberation of the city of Voronezh from Nazi invaders.
The competition brought together athletes from across the region, showcasing a high level of preparation, technical skill, and competitive spirit in several underwater sports disciplines. The program included:
- Finswimming
- Classic fins swimming
- Underwater swimming
- Diving
Throughout the three days of competition, swimmers demonstrated speed, endurance, and precision, reflecting the continued development of underwater sports at the regional level. The modern facilities of the “Volna” sports complex provided ideal conditions for fair and high-quality competition.
Beyond its sporting value, the championship carried strong historical and patriotic significance, honoring an important chapter in the history of Voronezh and preserving the memory of the city’s liberation. The event successfully combined athletic excellence with respect for historical heritage, reinforcing the educational and social role of sport.
The championships concluded with the awarding of medals and diplomas to the top performers in each discipline and age category.
